A people person working for a people company who spins to give
Lunelle Kotzee, a Senior Credit Controller at Adcorp Group Business Services (AGBS), an Adcorp Holdings company, is using her passion for spinning to help others. She is also one of those rare people who ‘gives out’ as much as she ‘gets back’ in all spheres of her life.
Some five years ago, Lunelle gave up her road bicycle for a spinning cycle. The rocking music, electric atmosphere and the fantastic exercise that ‘spinning’ involves, is what first got her ‘hooked’ on ‘spinning’.
Today, she has a regular spinning class at her local gym in Heidelberg, which she fits in to her busy schedule.
Says Lunelle: “To give my best to my class, my family, at work, and to those who are less fortunate than I am, is one of my greatest motivations. In this way, I am able to give back to myself.”
When the opportunity to participate in a ten hour spinning marathon, one of the largest annual fundraising events of the Beeld Children’s Fund arose, Lunelle’s employers at Adcorp Group Business Services did not hesitate to sponsor her.
Says Lunelle: “I was lucky enough to be sponsored by my company AGBS, and it’s really an honour to be representing Adcorp at this incredible fundraising event.
“It’s a great motivation to know that my spinning passion will also gladden the hearts of needy children.”
Campbell Bomela, Adcorp’s head of corporate social investment, says this kind of energy in staff is well recognized at Adcorp. “After all, Adcorp’s business focus is all about people and performance in the work place.”
Bomela says that Adcorp invests one percent of its annual profits back into society through a range of different schemes and projects. “While our CSI focus relates mainly to our core business, thus focusing on education and training, there are several projects of varying natures that we support on a ‘discretionary’ basis.
“We really welcome initiatives that come from our staff. Lunelle is prepared to put herself through a physical hardship for charity and this is the kind of spirit Adcorp encourages. The Beeld Children’s Fund is such a deserving charity and we are most proud to be associated with it the spinathon in September.”
Adcorp Group Business Services provided shared services in financial management, credit control, payroll services, operating systems and infrastructure and hardware.
