The most accurate and holistic barometer of employment trends
The Adcorp Employment Index was created in 2009, is released every quarter and is recognised as the most accurate and holistic barometer of employment trends in South Africa.
It looks at the many different forms of employment (permanent, temporary, fixed-term, flexible and seasonal), charts supply and demand, and covers macro-economic factors as well as the remuneration dynamics that impact the industry. The result is a scientifically validated and cross-referenced index that makes maximum use of the rich sources of data that Adcorp has access to by virtue of its dominant role in the recruitment market.
Although Adcorp is not fully representative of the South African economy, the index is nevertheless a reliable indication of overall trends. Moreover, the data that underpins the index is readily available (with little or no material delay in collection), reliable (it uses population measures rather than sample-survey methodologies) and is calculated on a monthly frequency (whereas Statistics SA’s most reliable employment aggregates are only available every quarter).
